Note: A broadband Internet Connection Needed for these demonstration
streams.
NetBroadcasting.tv offers the two most widely used streaming formats, Windows Media
and Flash. Embedded Windows Media streams are now supported in various platforms,
operating systems and browsers by using the new SilverLight browser plug-in. NetBroadcasting.tv
is pleased to demonstrate and support this new technology.
We are going to use a short segment from a video called "Fighter Pilot"
encoded in the same set of bitrates in both Windows Media (including SilverLight)
and Flash formats. "Fighter Pilot" is an excellent demonstration
of the capabilities of these streaming formats because it contains scenes of extensive
motion as well as scenes that are more static. On the following pages we will take
you through several different bitrate versions of the "Fighter Pilot"
in both Windows Media embedded, Windows Media SilverLight, and Flash.

If you are on a Windows computer running Internet Explorer the embedded Windows
Media streams should play fine. If you are on a Mac or other platform, operating
system, or browser, you should try the SilverLight Demonstration. It will prompt
you to load a one-time browser plug-in (similar to the Flash browser plug-in) to
be able to view the SilverLight demonstrations. If you are using a Mac and would
like to view the non-embedded Windows Media demonstrations, these can be viewed
either by installing the free Flip4Mac Windows Media plug-in for the Mac's QuickTime player,
or the free Windows Media Player for the Mac. Note: You will need a high bitrate
internet connection (at least as high as the encoded bitrate) to view these videos
without pauses. You can check your connectivity by using the Bandwidth Test
on the menu at the top of this page.
